Soft-Lite Barrington Double Hung Window
Soft-Lite Barrington double hung windows are all-vinyl, and designed and engineered so that the bottom window slides up, partially covering the top sash when opened. A double hung window has two stacked windows that are each able to move up and down independent of one another. Soft-Lite’s double hung windows tilt inward from their frame, for trouble-free cleaning on both sides of the window pane.

Lock and Tilt System passes strenuous AAMA Forced Entry Resistance tests and features a sleek design that is easy to operate. Cam-action hardware compresses the weather-stripping when locked, for maximum resistance to air and water penetration into your home. Avoid windows with wide tolerances that allow weather-stripping to not touch or compress when the sash is locked shut.
Sash Lift Rail
Integral to the sash profile, our ergonomic lower lift rail is durable and dependable, easy to reach, and will never pop out or require replacement.

Double Weather-Stripping
Soft-Lite’s care extends to the smallest detail. Their double-barrier weather-stripping keeps dust and drafts to a minimum.
Balance System
Soft-Lite’s constant-force Teflon®-coated balance system easily carries the weight of each sash for smooth, one-finger operation. No loud springs, grease, or flimsy strings are required. Unlike old-fashioned balance systems that use metal housings to contain the operating gears and pulleys required, their stainless steel coils never need adjustment or lubrication and are housed in an enclosed plastic housing which quiets and insulates the well-engineered system.
GLASS
Energy Efficient Glass Options
In general, the better a window’s insulated glass package, the more energy savings and comfort it will provide. One caveat … don’t be fooled by the focus some manufacturers place on “R” factor by itself. According to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Guide for Selecting Windows for Energy Efficiency, “The insulating value of an entire window can be very different from the glazing (glass package) alone. Instead, look at the certified NFRC “U” value for the entire window unit. The lower the “U” value the better the window will insulate. Industry standard is a “U” value of 0.30.

When you choose a solid Soft-Lite color, the “solid” color runs deep from the interior to the exterior of your window. Never worry about scratching the color off. It’s impossible!
