Windows
Windows are available in a multitude of styles and material options. They are more than simply for curbside appeal – they set the stage for how your home is entered. At Window Solutions Plus, our goal is to assist you in navigating a wide range of options until you find the perfect windows for your home. As you will find below, here at Window Solutions Plus, we install many styles and materials across numerous manufacturers.
WINDOWS STYLES
Double Hung Windows
Double hung windows are designed and engineered so that the bottom window slides up, partially covering the top sash when opened. A double hung window has two stacked windows that can each move up and down independently of one another. Double hung windows tilt inward from their frame, allowing for effortless cleaning on both sides of the window pane.
Casement Windows
Casement windows are designed and engineered to open and close on a hinge – swinging inward or outward with a crank or push-out operation. Casement windows are available in large sizes and can be opened all the way to allow for a gorgeous view as well as maximum airflow. They can be utilized individually or in combination with multiple window units.
Picture Windows
Picture windows are large stationary windows that offer expansive, sweeping views, allowing for maximum natural light. Available in numerous configurations and sizes – including rectangular and polygon – picture windows are as elegant and stylish as they are durable and low-maintenance..
Awning Windows
Awning windows are hinged on the top and open outward from the bottom, allowing for maximum ventilation and airflow while providing protection from the rain. Awning windows are often installed higher on walls for privacy, or combined with larger stationary windows for a panoramic view. They come in a variety of styles and design options – including wood, fiberglass, and aluminum interiors, as well as fiberglass and aluminum exteriors.
Gliding Windows
Gliding windows have sashes that operate horizontally, allowing for top-to-bottom ventilation and quality airflow. The sashes do not open outward, so gliding windows are not only aesthetically pleasing but are exceptional space-savers. There are a variety of available design options, including wood and fiberglass interiors, as well as fiberglass and aluminum exteriors.
Specialty Windows
Specialty windows fuse high-quality design with cutting-edge engineering to create spacious, illuminated living areas that form a connection between indoor and outdoor lifestyles. With available shapes like trapezoids, polygons, and triangles – or your very own custom-designed shape – specialty windows allow you to create the windows of your dreams.
Bay and Bow Windows
Bay and bow windows are designed to extend outside a wall to open up a room, allowing for a panoramic view and a well-lit living space, all while creating a snug interior niche. Bay windows are comprised of three or more windows that form corner angles, and bow windows present curves instead of corners and contain four or more connected windows.
WINDOWS MATERIALS
Windows materials are an integral part of the product selection process. At Window Solutions Plus, we approach materials differently – rather than pitting one material against the other, we analyze each on its own merits and then compare and contrast. The prevailing principle is holding ourselves to the highest standards for educating our customers so that they can make the most informed decision regarding which product selections work best for their style and budget.
* Wood is the premier aesthetic and comes at the highest cost, but represents the most authentic look. There are windows which are wood inside and out but most have a clad exterior. Exterior cladding could be any of the materials below.
* Aluminum on the exterior is most often coupled with a wood interior. Aluminum inside and out is not recommended because it conducts temperature. All of the manufacturers we use with a wood interior and aluminum clad exterior have a thermal break, so conduction is not a concern. An aluminum clad window with a wood interior is often selected as the premium choice because you get the best of both worlds: fine wood interior and strong aluminum exterior. There are also options with aluminum inside and fiberglass outside.
* Fiberglass comes in multiple forms and its strength is its main attribute. Fiberglass is extremely low-maintenance. Fiberglass frames tend to be narrower for this reason, leading to less obstruction, more light, and better views. It is made of glass fiber and resin. This product is used as an exterior cladding or inside and out.
* Composite products are manufactured with a combination of at least two materials. For example, wood and plastic are combined with resins, then heated and pressurized to produce a durable man-made product. This product is used as an exterior cladding or both inside and out.
* Vinyl is the most cost-effective option and performs well when manufactured by a quality company. Vinyl does not show scratches and is a superb insulator. This product is used as an exterior cladding or inside and out.
