PROJECT SCOPE
- Removed existing wall and window/door assembly; constructed a multi level temporary support wall, then used a crane to hoist and set an engineer-specified steel beam weighing nearly 600 LBS to carry the new span.
- Performed structural carpentry and reframing, top-to-bottom, to create a rigid opening for the new door system, picture window, and framed dog door.
- Installed Pella 4 panel sliding door with Pella Lifestyle Series Picture Window and small dog door on side; aligned, flashed, and integrated for coastal durability.
- Relocated electrical and HVAC, fully insulated the assembly with spray foam and perimeter sealants, then sheetrocked, trimmed, and painted to achieve a seamless finish.
- Completed exterior carpentry and siding tie-ins, ensuring weatherproofing and clean aesthetics; project included waste removal and is backed by the Pella Certified Contractor Platinum Elite lifetime warranty.
Collaboration:This project in a beautiful Norwalk, CT home overlooking the Long Island Sound required a highly specialized structural approach. The homeowners wanted to expand the opening and maximize their view, which meant removing existing framing and introducing a new steel support system.
Our team built a temporary support wall, coordinated a crane delivery and lift of a steel beam, and executed precise reframing to accommodate the new Pella Lifestyle door system with accompanying windows. Alongside structural work, we managed electrical and HVAC relocation, spray foam insulation, and full interior/exterior finishing.
